Yesterday was the first time I heard this word...
I really didn't understand at first but there was a certain ring to it that I was waiting for quite some time.
STREAMLINE
So just before I started this blog, I looked it up in the net. And this is what I found:
(v) streamline (contour economically or efficiently)
I heard this word in our year-opening meeting. That the company would be streamlining... Far as I'm concerned, this is a good thing. The company (.. sounds like a Heroes episode) is in fact over staffed. And for one, I see that there are people hired to do jobs that volunteers can easily do. And some people are OVERLY PAID (by twice the salary i make in a month) doing nothing but smile and wave and be cute and be present on big company days. What the heck!!! I think everybody else was shocked at the direction the lady boss was going. They looked like the cat in the pic who was sitting ever so peacefully and was shocked eyes wide open... Hahahaha...(Except me, while she was explaining the word, there came a slugging kind of a grin on my face. One of my eyebrows was actually enthusiastically higher than its partner.)
So streamline. Contouring economically. Lets face it. Some people placed in managerial positions don't think enough to know the outcome of people they hire. Like this one friend I know. She got hired last year to be a techie assistant. Just this week, they retracted her hired status and returned her to become a parttimer. People expect that this person can learn the job in a month when in truth the person isn't really TECHNICALLY prepared. I feel sad for my friend though. But I know that becoming a parttime in a different arena is really this person's element. Not being a techie. (For all you know, my friend is already 60 years old.... Whatdya expect?! Hello?!!)
I really wish that the person who functions by being cute be streamlined. I would laugh my heart out if their salary were deducted even by a quarter. There are people working their asses to the bone and yet their efforts seem to be lost in the jungle of paperwork and management debates and socialization. Some employees just make good by sucking other people's behind to get what they want. (Sorry, guys! I know I labeled this blog Diva-ine Life. But hey. Even a diva gets cross sometimes)
Coming soon is a protest t-shirt 23. I just pray that management see behind the self-promotions and look at the real issue: WHO ARE THE REAL ONES WHO SERVE THE COMPANY?
